Here are 3 MBC drama series to heat up the summer of 2013.

Wed-Thu drama [Queen’s Classroom] stands first in the row to have started airing from June 12th. Weekend special series [Scandal : a Shocking and Wrongful Incident] will start at 9:55pm on June 29th and Mon-Tues series [Goddess of Fire] at 10pm on July 1st.


▶ 2013 Summer’s Hot Dramas to Burn the Season

All three dramas lined up this summer have sizzling themes. [Queen’s Classroom] is about a fierce struggle between teacher Mah Yeo-jin and her elementary students. [Scandal : a Shocking and Wrongful incident] tells about a burning agony of a son who finds himself between his father and a kidnapper. [Goddess of Fire] is about fierce love and spirit of art.

[Queen’s Classroom] which started from June 12th has already earned sympathy and support from the viewers with the intense struggle between the students and their teacher who is called ‘legendary witch’.

Teacher Mah is a very realistic character who pushes the students to the limit to teach them the harshness of the real world. Instead of being a protector for the kids, she herself becomes the authority of the irrational society and pushes the kids to troubles.

However, the kids will never give in to teacher Mah. They will stand against her. Sometimes they will come together and sometimes they will betray each other. And through this process, they will learn the real world and obtain their own view of the world. The main kids are Shim Hana acted by Kim Hyang-gi, Oh Dong-gu acted by Chun Boh-geon, Kim Seo-hyun acted by Kim Sae-ron, and Eun Boh-mi acted by Seo Shin-ae.

In [Scandal : a Shocking and Wrongful Incident], a man loses his son when a building collapses. He finds out who killed his son and kidnaps the son of this man. When the son grows up, he learns that the man he believed to be his father was in fact a kidnapper. This is a story of revenge, and the life after with wound and restoration.

A father who has killed a boy and a father who has kidnapped him: Ha Eun-joong(acted by Kim Jae-won) is endlessly desperate between these 2 fathers. He walks into the whirlwind of the destiny wishing to find the truth about 2 fathers and a woman he loves.

Set in a ceramic porcelain workshop in the 16th century, [Goddess of Fire] shows the intense artistic spirit and love of the lady Baek Pah-sun(acted by Moon Geun-young). The 16th’s Joseon Dynasty was famous for the porcelain of the highest quality in East Asia which is the mixture of science and art. And the drama will also tell the story of Prince Kwang Hae’s love for her. He was a sad prince who had to let her go no matter how much he loved her.

It is the first time in the drama history to present a drama about ‘Joseon Dynasty’s porcelain culture. It will be another high quality costume drama following [Kang Chi, the Beginning] and this will keep the fame for the best costume drama for MBC.

[Queen’s Classroom] throws the question to the current educational system. Teacher Mah is discarding the kids to the tough society and pushes them to the limit with threat and mischief. Through extraordinary educational technic of teacher Mah, viewers are given a chance to contemplate the meaning of true education and true happiness.

[Scandal : a Shocking and Wrongful Incident] makes viewers give thoughts on the human nature. Ha Myung-geun(acted by Cho Jae-hyun)’s cruel revenge to Jang Tae-ha(acted by Park Sang-min) brings about a fierce struggle between ‘the good that turned bad’and ‘the bad who does not know himself is bad’. Thus the question is : could any revenge be reasonable?

[Goddess of Fire] looks back on the high technic of Korean porcelain skill. As ‘the Lim Jin War’in 1592 is also noted as ‘porcelain war’, many of the Korean porcelain artists were taken to Japan and contributed to the development of Japanese porcelain.

Baek Pah-sun, the lady porcelain artist, also went across to Japan during this time and spread Korean porcelain culture to Japan. She was very respected then and even now, there exists a tower to commemorate her in Arita, a city of Japan. [Goddess of Fire] will be a drama to show Korea’s fantastic artistic culture and history.
