- Preview -
Premiere nature documentary, Tears in the Africa!
Through this program, we will deliver a realistic report on this fascinating part of the world

A program of huge magnitude with breathtaking images...
For this very special production, our TV crew spent an entire year in Africa. Through 307 days of local filming, Africa is captured vividly on HD film. Through high-tech Cineflex filming techniques, the wildlife of Africa is captured from amazing aerial views. In the third episode, the 5895m-high Mt. Kilimanjaro was filmed from the very top as our film helicopter passes right by the massive mountain. The clear image of permanent snowcaps and ice is captured. This special documentary is filled with vivid and realistic images of Africa!

Episode 1: Red Winds from the Lower Valley of the Omo

Africa is where the fossils of early humans were found.
In the northeast of Africa, there is the lower valley of the Omo, where ancient, primordial remains still breathe.
Experience the rite of passage for men of the Karo Tribe called "cow jumping" and the fierce culture of stick-fighting called the Donga Festival, which have been handed down as tradition for thousands of years. However, at the same time, the sounds of cold gunshots pierce the red winds of this peaceful land and the tribes. What could be the reason for this sudden attack?

Episode 2: The Revelation of the Sahara

The Sahara Desert covers most of North Africa.
The name "Sahara" comes from "empty" and "infertile." Just like its name, this massive desert stretches endlessly. However, for some people, this is a land of survival, and a place they call home.
For the first time ever for a Korean TV broadcaster, we go on a massive journey of desert elephants that walk 600km in search of water and grassland. The program also captures the Gerewol Festival of the Fulani nomads, who create beauty of life in this infertile land.

Episode 3: Tears of Mt. Kilimanjaro

Mt. Kilimanjaro is a massive mountain in Africa where tropical and permanent snowcaps and ice co-exist. Through endless droughts and global warming, the permanent snow and ice are quickly melting, leaving behind only small-sized snowcaps on top of the mountain. Very soon, the mystery of Mt. Kilimanjaro could be buried as a legend forever.
The Gorongosa National Park located in the heart of central Mozambique was often referred to as "Eden." However, as of late, it is failing to live up to its nickname. Due to global climate anomalies, animals are being massacred and residents are leaving the land because they can no longer make a living by farming. The land is filled with nomads on a journey to find a new home. As the animals are killed and people migrate away from the land, Mt. Kilimanjaro can do nothing but shed its massive tears of ice.
- Preview -
Alfred Russel Wallace proposed the theory of evolution due to natural selection in 1858 independently from Charles Darwin, who published On the Origin of Species in 1859. Giving much of the credit in developing the theory of evolution to Darwin, Wallace left for Indonesia where he spent 18 years doing research, which led to his discovery of a boundary that separated the ecozones of Asia and Australia. This became known as the Wallace Line and it shows the distinct differences among species to the west and east of the line.
In the 19th century though, Wallace was unable to see below the ocean along the Wallace Line to explore the fish species that also evolved differently from other places due to their unique underwater habitat shaped by volcanic activity and earthquakes.
These exotic fish species are captured on camera, showing the diversity of marine life and the evolutionary influences. Showing how marine life maintain a balance underwater, these vivid images will draw viewers into the mysterious world of nature.

- The waters along the equator sparkle like jewels
An underwater world with diverse marine life!
Undiscovered places in the seas!
Exploring the deep seas, a mysterious place!

- First person to propose the theory of evolution
Refusing to accept Creationism, Wallace presented his essays on the theory of evolution to the Linnean Society of London and backed Darwin's theory.
With passion and a strong belief in his mission, Wallace spent 18 years in Southeast Asia to research animals and plants, eventually discovering a geographical line that existed between animals in 1860.
Thomas Huxley named this line the Wallace Line in 1868 in recognition of Wallace's discovery.

- The Wallace Line is the area that divides the Indian Ocean and Pacific Ocean, extending through Java, Bali, Lombok Strait, Borneo, Celebes and the Makassar Strait. Peering into the deep sea, which Wallace was unable to explore in the 19th century! With a habitat that largely remained untouched since prehistoric times, the sea is an astounding environment.

 - Preview -

With temperatures that drop below 45 degrees Celsius,
the Altai mountain range exceeds heights of 4000 meters.
A 400-day journey into the heart of the hidden wildlife of this region.
Succeeded in shooting footage of the endangered and elusive snow leopards
for the first time by a Korean documentary crew.

Snow leopards of Altai

Snow leopards are large cats that inhabit the Himalayan and
Altai mountain ranges. Adult snow leopards measure about 110 centimeters
in length and their tails can grow as long 75 to 89 centimeters.
In 1970, US naturalist George Schaller was one of the first Westerners to
spot the snow leopard. In addition, snow leopards live along slopes
that reach sharp inclines as steep as 80 degrees, which make it difficult to
for humans to approach them. They can walk on the rocky ground without
hardly making a sound. As secretive animals, they avoid detection and stay
clear of humans. Any sightings of snow leopards in the wild are widely
reported by global news outlets,

Towering mountains of solid rock make ideal nesting grounds for birds

The mountains in the area reach heights of 4000 meters above sea level,
making it almost impossible for people to scale them. But these fortress-like
mountains provide excellent natural protection for young birds in the wild.
A family of saker falcons have a nest in one of the ledges of these magnificent
mountains. Beautiful footage of black storks (Natural Monument No. 200),
which were last sighted in Korea in the 1970s, is also featured in this nature
documentary.

Herbivores of Altai

There are many predators such as wolves and snow leopards in Altai that prey
on grazing animals such as the Mongolian gazelle, argali (wild sheep),
ibex (wild goat) and even the livestock raised by nomads. Danger lurks
everywhere in the wild. We bring you footage of herbivores raising their
young in the these rocky mountains.
The fatherly love of Chun-bok(Kim Gap-su), the owner of a gas station, for Ki-wan(Lee Jae-yun) attracted the attention of many through the first episode on the 21st. Chun-bok is a cold-hearted man who gets excited like a child around In-suk(Kim Mi-suk), his wife of thirty years, and has endless patience and understanding for Ji-wan. The plot evolves around the fathers of today. It is interesting to see the story of different families told from the perspective of fathers through chun-bok, Sang-yeop(Hong Yo-seop), an executive of a major company, and Jun-tae(Lee Han-wi).

Scriptwriter Choi Hyeon-gyeong’s unique lines that show the bond between family members and the organized directing make an astounding combination. The drama shows off the unwavering acting of middle-aged veterans including Kim Yeong-ok, Kim Gap-su, Kim Mi-suk, Park Sun-cheon and Gyeon Mi-ri. The bright acting and fresh faces of Lee Jae-yun, Han Geu-ru and Yang Jin-seong add to the fun.

The episode ends as Sang-yeob heads home on the memorial day of his friend Jae-ho. It drew out the curiosity of viewers by ending with him catching his son Ji-wan and Sang-yeob’s daughter Hee-ju(Park Si-eun) kissing.
