Title "New Heart" has recorded the highest number for eight straight weeks

MBC’s TV series “New Heart” (Writer: Hwang Eun-gyeong, Director Park Hong-gyun) has recorded the highest number of viewers in its primetime slot on Wednesdays and Thursdays for eight straight weeks. According to TNS Media Korea, “New Heart,” commanded a 28.2% share of all TV viewers on January 30, 2008 (Wed) and though it was slightly less than the 28.8% share that the show reached on January 24, 2008 (Thu), which also happens to be the show’s highest ratings, it is still a solid performance for the show. In just the Seoul metropolitan area, “New Heart” grabbed a 29% share of all Seoul viewers. Another ratings agency, AGB Nielsen Media Research produced numbers showing that “New Heart” garnered a 26.3% share of all TV viewer.(Seoul metropolitan area 27.9%)

New Heart is a medical drama that unfolds in the chest surgery department of Gwanghee University Hospital. After premiering on December 12, 2007 (Wed), New Heart caught the attention of viewers with its interesting story plots and dramatic scenes in every episode. It has been the top-rated show in its primetime slot for eight straight weeks.

The New Heart episode that aired on January 30, 2008 surrounded the sudden collapse of the former prime minister of Britain who was visiting Korea. He is diagnosed with a myocardial infarction condition at Gwanghee University Hospital and everyone on the staff is wondering whether Dr. Kang (actor Cho Jae-hyun) will be chosen to operate on the former prime minister. In the following episode, the former prime minister receives a successful operation and around that time, Dr. Kang and Eun-seong (actor Ji Sung) return to the hospital after finally deciding to stay on the hospital’s medical staff. Eun-seong and Hye-seok (actress Kim Min-jung) also rekindle their relationship, which grows stronger as they understand each other’s pain. So these turn of events in the romance between Eun-seong and Hye-seok will be a positive development for TV viewers who have been waiting to see them become romantically involved.
