* Production Plan
There's nothing you can do without money. Now that we are entrenched in the age of materialism, great value is put on materials for happiness. We live our lives dominated by materials instead of thinking of the real values of life. Surely, money, honor, and success are all things you need in life but they are not the only things we should put such great value on. Whether one puts value on money, honor, or success is one's choice. But instead of those man-made values, we would like to talk about our hearts, and the true values we were born with.

The power which helps us live life is called 'Love'
Everyone loves themselves, their family and other people. It is through that another person we make a new family and give birth to another me; that is how life is. As they say, blood is thicker than water, there is nothing in the world that can be as precious as your family. But why do you think that the saying that 'one would throw away their family if there were nobody watching' came about? The reason is because families are not only made of the same blood but of love also.

This drama is the story of a woman, who bravely lives for her love. This woman, who grew up not knowing the hardships of life, falls in love with a man, who graduated from high-school by taking an equivalency exam and lives with his single-father and grandmother. Love is the tabloid version of life, it never turns out the way you planned it to be. There are uncountable ups and downs. The drama is a story about finding the true happiness in life through overcoming these ups and downs with sacrifice (another name for love) and forgiveness.

Love always needs effort
Seon-joo (Jo Yeo-jeong) and Dong-soo (Kim Ji-hoon) represents the love between a man and a woman. While both families are equally connected by blood, Dong-soo's places their greatest value on love while Seon-joo's places theirs on material items. We want to show the viewers what they have to do in order to find true happiness and how love can bring a new family together by loving and cherishing each other.

* Characters
* Lee Seon-joo, 27 years old (Jo Yeo-jeong) ? A brave, honest and ambitious character, all because of love
She is eldest daughter of Lee Man-bok. She has a clumsy and easy-going personality. She is so honest and straightforward that sometimes she seems impulsive and impromptu. She is very playful, cries lots of tears, and laughs a lot that she seems a little immature but she also is firm about her decisions when she makes up her mind about something.

She graduated from high-school but didn’t pass the college entrance exams so she couldn't go to college. Instead she went to the states, by force, to study but came back home in 3 months. Because of her father's domineering personality she was forced to study again and got into a junior college where she majored in early-children education. Even though she was an assistant teacher she worked at a kindergarten for 3 years but it closed due to a business slump.

She is the total opposite of her sister, Hae-joo, who wears designer-brands and shows that she is from a rich family all the way down to her bones. If Seon-joo were to wear famous designer-brand clothes they would look fake on her, and instead of eating full course meals at hotels she like to eat traditional Korean food. Also, there is Hyeong-cheol, the man next to her, whom she has never felt that overwhelming feeling of love towards. With some support from her father he comes back from studying abroad. Somehow naturally he becomes her man and her whole family thinks of him as their son-in-law, but then she meets Dong-soo.

* Seo Dong-soo, 31 years old (Kim Ji-hoon) ? He is like a fresh fish flapping out of the water in order to live.
He lives in the Dong Go Ri village in Wando, which is in South Jeolla Province. He is the youth leader of his village. Because of his family's poor living conditions he dropped out of high-school, and he has a very bright, tough, and sweet personality. He never has regretted dropping out of school in order to pay back his father's debts and make money in order to send his siblings to school. He was never good and studying and isn't from a rich family but his personality is the best. He is always a bright person due to his upright and positive personality. He is the nicest person to those in need and doesn't have much money, but to the rich, who love to display their powers, he is the coldest person. Even though he doesn't have much knowledge he is never discouraged. When he gets angry he turns into a totally different person, but as long as nobody bothers him he never gets mad.

Seon-joo and he meet in Wando when she comes on vacation, and he slowly starts to fall in love with her while helping her. After finding out that Seon-joo comes from a rich family he backs away from her because of their differences. But after finding out how much he loves her he does not give in to her family or anything else.

* Oh Hyeong-cheol, 31 years old (Jeong Chan) ? He is a sweet and arrogant poker-faced man.
He is one of the higher executives at Seon-joo's father's company. His father passed away when he was five years old so he grew up under his mother. His will to win and be the best is very strong; up to now he has never missed a chance at being number one. And he has never lost to anyone in power. He closed his eyes and ignored the hardships his mom went through in order to raise him, hardships that anyone would have shed tears over, and just studied. The reason was because he knew that he was the only one who could save his family from this dreadful life. His only goal in life was success. As he becomes mature he starts to see his mother's sacrifices and hardships. She becomes his Achilles' heel, his weak point. But he was born with strong self-esteem which helped him keep moving forward. He pushed forward ignoring his hardships and now that habit has become second nature to him.

During his last years of college he works for Dae Yang Marine Products as an intern, thanks to a professor's recommendation. There his cleverness gets noticed by Seon-joo's father. After studying abroad he gets an offer from the company to work and now he is one of the higher ranking executives of the company. Dae Yang Marine Products was the perfect place for him to nurture his dreams. Eventually he even gets the honor of being chosen to be Seon-joo's husband. But he gets offended when Seon-joo leaves him to be with Dong-soo, a high-school drop out who has nothing. So he starts to only focus on making Dong-soo's life even more miserable.

* Lee Dae-yang, Real name: Lee Ahn-bok, 58 years old (Kim Yeong-cheol) ? A man who threw away friendship for success; a very ambitious man.
He is Seon-joo's father and the owner of Dae Yang Marine Products. He was born the eldest son the one of the poorest families in Wando. He was born with too many responsibilities on his shoulders, an older sister, 5 siblings and a father who was handicapped from a boat wreck. He couldn't go to high-school because he had to make a living for his family. During his elementary and junior high school years he became very jealous of his friend Seo Pil-soo, Dong-soo's father, for the first time.

17 years ago he blamed a boat wreck all on Dong-soo's father, Seo Pil-soo. In the midst of all the quarrels and mix-ups he made everything look like a robbery and took Pil-soo's assets. Because he wanted to be rich he waited for the right time and even took Seo-pil's lover, Myeong-ok. His current cold and stern charisma is all a calculated image. But when he gets extremely mad he turns back into his old self.

Finally, he sees a guy he needs for his business and sets Seon-joo up with him but then is revoked by his daughter's unexpected rebellion. He tries everything in his power to stop her from getting married but fails.

* Story Outline
Seon-joo, the ugly-duckling daughter of Lee Man-bok, is surprised when her father tells her to get engaged to Hyeong-cheol. She always told herself that she would get married to someone she really loved, so to get engaged to someone she doesn't love is impossible. So she packs her stuff and secretly leaves the house. She goes to a village in Wando and there she meets Dong-soo and unexpectedly falls in love with him. Seon-joo is left with a great impression of his family, which is overflowing with love and laughter even though they are not very wealthy.

Dong-soo goes to Seoul against his will with his family and adjusts to city life. Even through the hard everyday life he thinks constantly of Seon-joo. Dong-soo and Seon-joo meet again and she starts to feel lively again. But she keeps telling herself that she shouldn't love him and also tries her best not to love him, but the two get closer. By getting to know Dong-soo she learns that people can live comfortably even without money. She also clearly sees the love during their family's dinner conversations.

However, Seon-joo's father, Lee Man-bok, and Seong-pil's father, Seo Pil-doo, are enemies and hate each other. Because of this, Dong-soo and Seon-joo have the hardest time getting permission for marriage, but the two eventually have there own wedding and start their lives together. Despite her family's cold shoulder towards her she lives happily and treats Pil-doo as her own father. Eventually her father comes to Pil-soo and kneels in front of him asking for forgiveness.
