The Korean leopard is considered a very beautiful and agile cat. It is a capable
climber and an excellent hunter. A Wildlife Documentary on MBC TV, titled Korean
Leopards unveils the habitats and lives of Korean leopards. The Leopard, otherwise
known as the Amur leopard, faces extinction. The documentary has two parts, Part
1 Tragedy of Korean leopards and Part 2 The Roaring in Khasan.
The Korean leopard is one of the most highly endangered cats in the world. It
has extraordinary sight, sensitive hearing and an excellent sense of smell. It
has become an endangered species because of poaching and loss of habitat since
the Korean War. Another reason the leopards are endangered is for economic gain.
Korean leopards have beautiful skin that people can't resist, so they kill these
poor leopards and take their coats. It is believed that currently there are approximately
30 leopards still surviving throughout the world. The documentary focuses on three
surviving leopards. It was shot over two years in a natural reservation area in
Khasan, Russia. You can watch how these leopards survive on little food. The leopards
are filmed while strolling in a pair, feeding on their prey and trying to protect
their cubs.
