MBC presents a two-part series foundation special edition, , a documentary about
glaciers and the environment, which is to be aired on December 4th and 5th at
10:35 pm.
The series examines glaciers from the Antarctic to Greenland to the Alps. This
is a two-part series HD documentary tracing the earth's civilization and the
ever growing concern over global warming.
What is the reason for producing ?
With the Kyoto Protocol to take effect soon, the most popular topic about the
earth's huge environmental changes is doubtless global warming due to the greenhouse
effect. Polar and alpine glaciers, especially sensitive to temperature changes,
are the barometer of global warming and an environmental index, and are a natural
testing ground that provides scientific clues for future climate change predictions.
This special edition explains what effects glaciers have had on mankind's history
by investigating the history, life, death, aging, and illness of glaciers. Moreover,
through the analysis glacial core samples, this edition tracks the earth's climate
changes in the past, and warns of fast approaching global warming and a possible
new ice age.
